About OpenLara / Tomb Raider Demo

OpenLara is an open-source recreation of the classic Tomb Raider engine, with a WebGL demo linked by its creator. This entry is an opportunity to explore that demonstration and experience the deliberate movement of an early three-dimensional adventure. Lara's position and orientation matter when approaching a ledge, making careful alignment more useful than simply holding a direction and hoping a jump connects.

The engine recreates actions such as climbing, jumping and swimming, letting the level's geometry become the puzzle you read. Look at the height of a ledge, the distance across a gap and the space available for a landing. The browser destination is specifically a demo level rather than the full commercial Tomb Raider campaign. Approach it as a compact introduction to the engine and its distinctive exploration style.

How to play

  • Explore the demo's three-dimensional rooms and routes.
  • Align jumps and climbs to navigate ledges.
  • Use Lara's movement actions to inspect accessible spaces.

Beginner tips

  • Practice turning and stopping on safe ground first.
  • Line up squarely with a ledge before attempting a climb.
  • Check the landing area before committing to a jump.
