THE GAME

About Trombone Champ

Trombone Champ gives you direct control over the sound of an unruly virtual instrument. Moving the mouse changes pitch, while a click or keyboard input makes the trombone play. Matching the musical track earns a better score, but you can also produce the wrong note at exactly the wrong moment, turning a familiar tune into a deliberately ridiculous performance.

The original game rewards songs with a currency called Toots, which can buy collectible cards and lead to further unlocks and mysteries. A Freeplay mode also lets you improvise without following a track. Its humor does not remove the rhythm challenge: steady timing and controlled pitch changes make a clear difference as you improve. Enjoy the imperfect attempts while learning to hear and follow each musical phrase.

How to play

  • Move the pitch marker and blow notes in time with the track.
  • Improve accuracy to earn scores and Toots.
  • Explore card rewards or improvise in the original game's Freeplay mode.

Beginner tips

  • Practice changing pitch smoothly before attempting faster songs.
  • Focus on a steady beat before perfecting every note.
  • Use Freeplay if available to learn how movement changes the sound.
